  • Distribution factors for various load conditions and limit states.
  • An efficient approach for organizing analysis results, suited for LRFD design.
  • Fatigue and fracture design and analysis considerations.
  • Design of positive and negative sections for both compact and non-compact sections.
  • Flexural design requirements such as ductility provisions for positive sections.
  • Constructability design provisions.
  • Shear design provisions for stiffened and unstiffened panels.

Instructions

Dr. Atorod Azizinamini, P.E., Ph.D., is the Director of the National Bridge Research Organization (NaBRO) and an
Associate Professor of Civil Engineering at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln (UNL). Before joining the UNL Civil
Engineering faculty in 1989, Dr. Azizi was a practicing engineer for seven years. He has taught courses on design of steel
bridges using AASHTO LRFD and on bridge substructure design. He is chair of the ASCE Steel Bridge Committee and a
member of the AISI Steel Bridge Task Force and the Transportation Research Board Steel Bridge Committee. Dr. Azizi is
active in steel bridge research and frequently makes presentations on design issues related to steel bridges at national and
international conferences. His latest research activities concentrate on removing AASHTO limitations that prevent full
utilization of high-performance steel in bridge construction.
