The National Bridge Research Organization (NaBRO) is located at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Other research organizations at UNL are the Mid-America Transportation Center (MATC) and the Mid-West Roadside Safety (MwRSF). These organizations work in close coordination and cooperation with each other to address the transportation needs of the region, in particular, and the nation, in general. The technical domain of each organization is as follows: NaBRO coordinates all activities related to bridges, MwRSF, coordinates all roadside safety issues, while MATC oversees all activities related to traditional transportation problems. The Technology Transfer unit at the University of Nebraska works closely with these three organizations in transferring information to county engineers.

An Advisory Panel consisting of representatives from government agencies, private industry, and national organizations involved in bridge engineering, in cooperation with the Director of NaBRO provides recommendations for all activities of the organization. The Advisory Panel also plays an important role in identifying and assisting NaBRO in obtaining external funding for its research operations. The Advisory Panel is chaired by Mr. Mike Beacham, Midwest Regional Director for Construction Services, National Steel Bridge Alliance. Affiliated Researchers are a network of faculty, designers and other individuals with bridge expertise, who form focus groups with a designated leader, to carry out research and other tasks at NaBRO.
