Research Interests
Primary research areas involve the experimental investigation
of reinforced and prestressed concrete structural systems
subjected to earthquake or fatigue loadings. Interests include
the design/detailing/ behavior of connections between precast
elements, participation of the floor slab/panel systems in
resisting lateral loads, bond strength and durability of reinforcement
in concrete, evaluation and repair of damaged structures,
and applications of high-strength concrete to the prestressed
industry. Projects currently under investigation include the
testing of connection components to be incorporated in multi-bay
frame superassemblages subjected to cyclic lateral loads.
In addition, an extensive materials research project is underway
to investigate the effect of materials, curing, age, and test
conditions on the behavior of high-strength concretes with
compressive strengths in excess of 15,000 psi. Two full-scale
high-strength prestressed bridge girders are to be subjected
to fatigue, flexure, and shear tests.
